Ms. Stacey Ferland is a Nationally Certified Traumatologist, Registered Psychotherapist and Master Practitioner in Clinical Counselling with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA). She currently leads the Psychological Services Division as Manager at the Calgary Police Service, in Alberta, Canada. She is an accredited clinical supervisor with CPCA and originally trained as a counsellor in the United Kingdom before training as an Occupational Therapist. She holds a Master’s Degree in Psychology and is currently undertaking her Doctorate (PsyD) in Christian Psychology. For the past 22 years she has worked in mental health, and over the past 8 years has specialized in working with First Responders, specifically being a subject matter expert for post-traumatic stress disorder and workplace injury. She was the National Director of Trauma Services with Homewood Health, and Calgary Clinic Director.
She continues to be passionate about treating Law Enforcement with operational stress and PTSD. She has extensive experience delivering individual and group psychotherapy. Stacey’s approach in working with individuals is collaborative, strength-based and client-centered utilizing evidence-based treatments in order to ameliorate emotional distress and suffering. Stacey was trained in CBT (Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy); Advanced EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing); PE (Prolonged Exposure); ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) and VRET (Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy). Stacey has provided training and presentations nationally and internationally on PTSD, the importance of stabilization in trauma treatment and has developed a specific preventative program for Calgary Police, teaching skills to defuse and distance from traumatic material. In addition, she has also completed intensive and advanced training in DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy). Stacey worked in two accredited DBT programs in Canada and the UK and was instrumental in delivering training and supervision in the development of DBT in secure forensic services with male offenders.
Outside of her work, Stacey enjoys shopping, and is a shoe fanatic! She enjoys spending time with her husband who works in Law Enforcement, 14 year old son and cat called Elsa.
